Needed to re-shaft a 7-iron that was broken in a practice round prior to a HS tournament. Bought the shaft at Van's because they had it in stock (PGA SS did not), and brought to PGA SS to put it together (Van's club repair person was out sick). PGA SS charged me $85 to shaft the club and put on a generic grip, never texted me when complete, and told me it SHOULD be done by end of the day. They included a $50 upcharge because I needed it same day. Not busy, short work - just took advantage of me because I was in a jam.
On the contrary Van's sold me the shaft for $20, taking $12 off the sticker price just to be nice in a tough situation. I never asked for a thing and they went above and beyond.
Two very different experiences. The Van's associates wanted to know about the HS team and tournament, apologized profusely for their repair person being out sick, and gave me a discount I did not ask for. PGASS (see what I did there) saw it as an opportunity to grab an extra 50 bucks, and could not care less about the situation, and let me sweat it out whether they would complete the work or not. Y'all can run your businesses how you choose, but I know where I am spending my money in the future. THANK YOU VAN'S for outstanding customer service!
