Words truly can’t express how grateful I am for my experience at VANs Golf Shop.
As someone who is brand new to golf, I quickly fell in love with the game—but starting out can be overwhelming. I visited Golf Exchange and PGA Superstore since they came highly recommended. Unfortunately, at both places I felt more like a transaction than a person. At PGA Superstore in particular, I wandered around for nearly half an hour before anyone even approached me. It left me feeling discouraged and unsure about where to turn.
Almost on a whim, I decided to stop by VANs across the street—and I’m so glad I did.
The moment I walked in, Tom greeted me warmly, answered all my questions, and offered thoughtful advice about starting with a beginner set to make sure I truly enjoyed the sport before making a bigger investment. There was no pressure—just genuine guidance. After playing for about a month, I realized I wanted to commit to golf more seriously, so I headed back to VANs.
What really stood out? Tom remembered me. He remembered my name, what I had purchased, and even details from our first conversation. That level of care meant more than I can say.
When I told him I wanted to take the game more seriously, he took the time to talk through my goals and what I’d been experiencing with my starter set. From there, he fitted me for a new set of clubs. The entire fitting process was not only fun, but incredibly educational. Tom explained every adjustment and every recommendation along the way. At no point did I feel like I was just another sale. I felt supported, heard, and genuinely cared for.
Since then, my game has improved noticeably—and so has my love for golf. Even six months later, I still stop by to say hello to Tom and the rest of the staff and learn something new.
Simply put, VANs and Tom are the reason I stuck with this sport. I won’t go anywhere else for my golfing needs.
